Lavender essential oil is the queen of essential oils. It is the most popular and beneficial. Lavender essential oil is native to Europe and was discovered around the Medieval times. Lavender essential oil is also responsible for the emergence of aromatherapy as a discipline. The power of lavender was discovered by a French chemist named Rene-Maurice Gattefosse. One day a fire broke out while Gattefosse was working in his laboratory. After evacuating the building and extinguishing the fire on this body he doused his burned hands in lavender essential oil. The lavender seemed to not only stop the damage from the burning but also helped the wounds heal faster. This event led to essential oils being used more for their therapeutic properties rather than just smell (Modern Essentials 2015).

How to Use Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender is considered safe and mainly impacts the cardiovascular, nervous, and integumentary system. Lavendar essential oil can be applied to the skin with or without a carrier oil, it can be diffused, and it can be used to flavor food. I usually mix lavender with a carrier oil when I apply it to my skin or I use it in my diffuser. I also use lavender as a room spray and cleaner. As far as food goes, I think lavender has a very unique taste and it's pretty difficult to find. Whenever I stumble upon it I'll usually give it a try.
Lavender blends well with a lot of different oils mainly citrus, sage, and geranium.
