Many essential oils require a carrier oil when used topically. Carrier oils dilute essential oils so they can be safely applied to the skin. Carrier oils are full of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that provide a protective barrier and soften skin and hair.
Here is a list of 16 different carrier oils and the best ways to use each.

Jojoba oil is the best for acne-prone skin. It not only clears acne but balances oily skin and heals acne scars. It also acts as a cleanser. I usually put some on a cotton ball and wipe my face off with it as I would a toner. This is my personal favorite.
Coconut oil is great for skin and hair. It moisturizes and can heal eczema. It also acts as a mild sunscreen.
Olive oil is antibacterial and has antioxidants. You can use it to moisturize your face and hair. I use it as a hair mask. I usually cover my hair in it for about 30 minutes and then wash it out with shampoo. It leaves my hair a lot softer and shinier.
Sunflower oil is good for the face. It does not leave an oily residue and it helps the skins complexion. It is good to use with tea tree oil to help clear acne and even out skin tone.
Apricot oil is great for very dry skin. It can be used in cold winters to relieve windburn. It can also be used for mild eczema and dry patches on your skin like on your elbows.
6. Sweet Almond
Sweet almond oil should not be used by people who have nut allergies. Other than that, it is great for healing cracked skin and can be used on your face to reduce fine lines.
7. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is the anti-inflammatory healing oil. It popularly used to treat sunburn. It can also help heal cuts, burns, wounds, cracked skin, eczema, psoriasis, and shingles.
8. Evening Primrose
Evening primrose is great for you face and is the best anti-aging oil.
Avocado oil is another good anti-aging oil that you can use on your face. It also acts as a mild sunscreen.
Argan oil is the hair oil. It is commonly used in hair products to add shine and softness. It can also be used on the face. It has anti-aging and can also help treat acne.
Grapeseed oil is a light moisturizer that is best used for massages.
12. Kukui Nut
Kukui nut is another oil that should be avoided if you have a nut allergy. This oil is good for super dry skin and can relieve eczema, psoriasis, and cracked skin.
13. Borage Seed
Borage seed is a good nighttime moisturizer for your face. It has anti-aging properties. It can also heal damaged and overly dry areas. This oil is also good for sensitive skin.
Camellia oil helps improve skins texture. It is also great for your hair. It absorbs easily and does not make your hair look greasy.
15. Macadamia Nut
Macadamia nut oil should not be used if you have a nut allergy. It is like your natural skin’s oil/sebum. You can use it on your face at nighttime to rejuvenate dry, wrinkled skin.
16. Black Seed
Black seed oil is a moisturizer that is commonly used on the skin. It helps treat eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
Carrier oils can be used with or without essential oils. You can buy them organic and natural. Most can be used for cooking too since they are plant derived.
